| Description: | Founded in Pasian di Prato in 1967, the Alessandro Lunardelli winery brings together the Lunardelli family’s more than 100 years of experience and tradition in the field of wine making. Several generations ago, in fact, the Lunardellis were already producing and trading wine on a farm located in one of the best production areas in the Veneto region. Alessandro Lunardelli, who grew up and trained at his father’s school, decided to start his own wine trading business in 1968 after moving to Friuli for family reasons. To start his business, the then 25-year-old Alessandro first rented and then acquired the walls of one of Friuli’s oldest wineries, where the firm is still based today. Although he had ample experience behind him, Alessandro Lunardelli’s was a real gamble. Indeed, it was a matter of making the great, but until then hidden, qualities of Friulian wines known even outside the region. However, Alessandro Lunardelli did not lose heart and thanks to his remarkable professional skills, innate affability and uncommon tenacity, he succeeded in a short time in starting a business that from the modest quantities initially traded, reached the 2,500 ettoliters of wine, with more than 100,000 bottles produced and traded in 1998. The Lunardelli winery initially devoted itself to trading a few qualities of bulk wine. Slowly, however, the owner, Alessandro Lunardelli, laid the foundations of the current company, searching the best wine areas of the region for a series of small suppliers – producers that allowed him to expand and improve the quality of the offer every day. Today the company offers its customers more than 15 qualities of wine from the production areas of controlled designation of origin: Aquileia, Collio, Colli Orientali, Friuli – Isonzo and Friuli – Latisana. Since 1987, the company Alessandro Lunardelli has taken a further stage of business development, thanks to the inclusion in the company of his son Andrea, who was entrusted with administrative management and marketing. First signs of the renewal were the beginning of the marketing of bottled wine in 1990 and the beginning of the production of the Historical Series bottles in 1995. Thanks to this invention, consisting of bottling top-quality wines in bottles bearing labels that recall the lives of famous figures from Italian and world political history such as Che Guevara, Churcill, Franz Joseph, Gramsci, Hitler, Marx, Mussolini, Napoleon, and Sissi, the Alessandro Lunardelli winery gained widespread attention from the world’s media for both the originality of the idea and the quality of the products. Today about half of the company’s bottled wine production is dedicated to the Historical Series, which now has more than 50 diverse labels that have become cult objects among collectors. |
