| Description: | Piero Pittaro, a leading personality in the international winemaking field, is descended from a family of winemakers with four centuries of history behind them. The winery was founded in the 1970s, and of the nearly 90 hectares planted with vineyards, 85 are located in the heart of the sunny Friulian plain while the remainder are on the beautiful hills of Ramandolo. The winery’s center is located in Codroipo, in the heart of Friuli’s Grave area. Here white and red wines are produced and aged. For the production of Metodo Classico sparkling wines, a new winery located in the immediate vicinity of the main facility has been operational for a few years now. The indigenous Ronco Vieri line, on the other hand, is produced in the winery in Tarcento, in the Friuli Colli Orientali DOC area.The winery in Codroipo, unmistakable in its architectural line, is enriched by an interesting wine museum and a precious “glass collection”. Remarkable are the efforts that the winery has been implementing for some years now towards eco-sustainability. Starting with the management of the vineyard, which involves the application of management models aimed at drastically reducing the number of pesticide treatments by interacting with and perfecting traditional guided and integrated pest management systems. Also, the use of modern recovery sprayers, the waste-to-energy of pruning prunings as a heat energy source, the use of lightweight bottles for the still wine line, the use of Vino-Lok® glass stoppers, and last but not least a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system. |
